Family Holiday FAQ's


How long is the flight to Mauritius?

The flying time is 12 hours on direct flights from Heathrow. All flights to Mauritius are overnight flights, and most return flights are day time flights with the exception of Air Mauritius flights back on a Thursday and Saturday.


What about jetlag?

As Mauritius is 4 hours ahead of the UK in our winter, 3 in our summer months and with the overnight flights jetlag is rarely a problem.


Can we pre-book seats?

Seats can be pre-booked on Air Mauritius and Virgin. Seats with British Airways can be pre-booked online 72 hours before your departure.


Are there any inoculations required for Mauritius?

There are no inoculations required for travel to Mauritius. There is also no Malaria.


Do you provide child seats on transfers?

We can only offer child seats on private transfers.


Can you guarantee interconnecting rooms?

Interconnecting rooms unfortunately can not be guaranteed - these rooms are allocated by the hotel to guests on arrival at the resort. Where possible the hotels in Mauritius will allocate these rooms to families with young children.


Do you provide cots?

Cots can be provided at all of the hotels.


Do you provide high chairs in the restaurants?

Yes the restaurants at the Beachcomber hotels in Mauritius have high chairs.


Will the restaurants puree infants food?

Yes the restaurants will all puree infants food.


Should I take baby formula with me?

Although you can buy baby formula in Mauritius, we recommend you take your own.


Should we take nappies with us?

Take as many as you can in your luggage, additional supplies can be purchased in Mauritius. Swimming nappies are also a good idea to take with you.


Are the children's clubs free?

All hotels offer free children's clubs which are open to 3 to 12 year olds.


Can younger children attend the clubs?

Children under 3 can attend the clubs but they must be accompanied by an adult or baby sitter.


Are there any teenager's clubs?

Le Victoria is the only Beachcomber Hotel that runs a teenagers programme in busy school holiday periods.


How much does a baby sitter cost?

Baby sitters cost approximately £5 per hour. Baby sitters are booked through reception - 24 hours notice is required. Depending on hours worked the baby sitters transport may need to be paid for by guests.


Is it worth us taking snorkeling equipment with us?

If you are keen snorkelers then yes it is worth taking your own equipment with you.


Do the restaurants have children's meals?

All restaurants offer kids menus. Some in fact have their own children's dining area - Le Victoria even offers a children's buffet with mini buffet tables.


Do you have any all inclusive hotels in Mauritius?

Four of the Beachcomber hotels offer an all inclusive plan - Shandrani Resort & Spa, Le Victoria, Le Canonnier and Le Mauricia.
