We at Beachcomber really do know our hotels, but to help you through the wedding process in Mauritius, we've asked Kim to answer any questions you may have. Kim's choice to get married at Dinarobin Hotel Golf & Spa has given her great inside knowledge of the whole wedding process. You can ask Kim anything you like about getting married abroad and she will give you a personal and honest viewpoint. Here are a few questions that Kim has already answered:
When did you meet?
We met at work 4 years ago.
How long were you engaged for before you got married?
We were engaged 2 years before we got married, Stuart proposed to me on Valentines Day but it didn't quite go to plan, favourite restaurant booked, flowers arranged, violinist booked, ring....small problem, the ring hadn't arrived from the designer on time.
Why did you choose to get married abroad?
With us both having a very busy work life within the hospitality industry we wanted someone else to do the hard work and take the stress from the arrangements.....we couldn't have asked for a less stressful wedding.
What made you choose Mauritius for your wedding?
We wanted a once in a lifetime dream wedding/honeymoon on a tropical island with golden beaches and turquoise sea. After looking through what felt like hundreds of brochures we fell in love with Mauritius.
What made you choose Dinarobin for your wedding?
Having spoken to a number of friends within the travel industry they had recommended Beachcomber due to the fact that they guarantee that only one wedding a day will take place and so it would be our special day. Having looked on the Beachcomber website we fell in love with the Dinarobin, you only have to look at the hotel to understand why.
How many people attended your wedding?
We had a very private wedding with just my parents attending. When we returned to the UK we had a large reception with friends and family where our wedding CD supplied by the Dinarobin photographer was displayed on screens throughout the venue.
Did you have a special celebration meal after your wedding?
We wanted something very private and so decided that due to the amazing location of our beachfront villa we would have our Wedding Breakfast, which was a specially designed seafood menu on our balcony overlooking the sea, which was absolutley amazing. Dinarobin organised dedicated waiting staff that were superb and unobtrusive.
Did you have your hair and make up done at the hotel?
I was fortunate to become friendly with another bride who got married at Dinarobin a few days before who offered to do my hair as long as I supplied the champagne......thank you Marie.
What flowers did you choose for your wedding?
I have to say this was one area I was a little stressed about as every bride has an idea of what she wants......there was no need, the Wedding Co-ordinators supplied me with a portfolio of flower options to choose from. In the end I decided on a white orchid theme that the florist designed especially for me.
What did you find easiest about organising your wedding abroad?
To be honest everything was easy from booking the wedding with Pat at Beachcomber to agreeing details with Sarah and the Dinarobin Wedding Co-ordinators it couldn't have been easier.
What would be the one piece of advice you would give to a bride considering getting married in Mauritius?
If you are not sure just ask....Beachcomber have dedicated professional staff who are there to help every step of the way....don't ever feel that you are asking too many questions.
