Seychelles Weddings FAQ's
How is the wedding arranged?
Once you have chosen your ideal date, let us know and it normally takes 24 hours to check if we can confirm your wedding on that date for Sainte Anne and check that no other wedding is planned that day – as we guarantee only one wedding a day. If the day is free we’ll get everything booked up and confirmed to you. To confirm your booking we will require a deposit of 10% of the total cost of your holiday plus £150 deposit for the wedding package.
How much notice is required to organise a wedding?
Because we need time to get all your wedding paperwork together and sent off to the hotels we would say we need at least six weeks to organise it properly.
When do the weddings take place?
Weddings take place Monday to Friday, excluding public holidays.
How long do we need to be in the Seychelles before the ceremony?
We suggest that you are in Seychelles for at least three days before your wedding date.
What kind of wedding ceremony will we have?
All of our Seychelles weddings are civil ceremonies conducted by experienced staff
Will the wedding ceremony be conducted in English?
All weddings will be conducted in English. If you would like the ceremony conducted in another language please let us know at time of booking and we will happily find out if this is possible.
How long will the ceremony last for?
The ceremony will last for approximately half an hour. We advise that you speak to your wedding co-ordinator at the resort to confirm this on your arrival.
Can we bring and use our own music?
We advise that you pick 4 pieces of music that you bring to the Seychelles with you. 1. For the arrival of bride. 2. When the guests sign the register. 3. When the officer will declare the couple husband & wife. 4. Cake ceremony.
Is our wedding legal in the UK?
Your wedding will be performed by a licensed marriage officer which ensures your wedding is completely legal and recognised by UK law. The minimum age to get married in the Seychelles is 18 years.
What documentation do we need?
We require copies of the following documents from you at least eight weeks before you depart the UK:
- Copies of birth certificates
- Copies of passports
- Decree absolute (if divorced)
- Deed Poll (if name has changed)
- Death Certificate and previous marriage certificate if widowed
- Non English documentation must be translated into English and duly stamped.
- One signed copy of the Beachcomber Wedding Application form which we will send out to you when you make a booking.
What happens if I have been divorced?
All we need is a copy of the decree absolute.
How do I transport my wedding dress?
Each airline we feature to the Seychelles has a different baggage policy concerning wedding outfits. As these change from time to time we recommend that you speak to our reservations department before you travel so they can make the necessary notes in your airline reservation. With Emirates your wedding outfits form part of your luggage allowance and you may be charged if you exceed this. We recommend that all your wedding outfits are professionally packed as the airlines will not allow you to hang them onboard the aircraft.
What should we wear for our wedding?
In the Seychelles the emphasis is on bare foot luxury, relaxation and individual tastes. The Seychelles has a warm climate all year round so we would suggest something light-weight. For the groom linen is a popular choice however it really is down to personal preference. You really can wear what you want from kilts to shorts, full wedding dresses to a casual sun dress-the choice is completely down to you.
Do we need witnesses?
Two witnesses over the age of 18 are required by law. Not to worry if you have decided on a quiet intimate wedding for just the two of you we will arrange the witnesses for you.
Can we invite guests to the wedding?
You can invite as many guests as you like depending on availability at the hotel-we would recommend you get your guests to book at the same time as to ensure availability. We're also delighted to say we have a unique advantage for you when staying at Sainte Anne Resort & Spa. We have a superb Wedding Party Offer which we hope will encourage as many of your family and friends to join you as possible.
If your guests choose to stay at another hotel you will have to confirm whether they can attend the wedding at time of confirmation as this is down to the hotel and it’s occupancy over your wedding dates.
Can we have a same sex wedding?
Unfortunately, at this stage, we cannot organise same sex weddings or commitment ceremonies in the Seychelles.
Are hair and beauty services available at the hotel?
Sainte Anne Resort & Spa has fantastic health and beauty services so it’s no problem for them to organise for you to have your hair and make up done.
Do we need Insurance?
We do not organise insurance for you although there are a number companies that specialise in wedding and honeymoon insurance. We would also recommend your guests take out travel insurance just in case anything has to be changed.
